Christian Soul/Spiritual Care
As Christians, we understand that the physical world and the spiritual world intersect. Like the experiences of Job and many other Bible characters, we usually see what is happening in the natural (through our natural eyes). However, we quickly learn that in the spiritual realm, (what we can see with spiritual eyes) there is another narrative at play.
Like Job, in the midst of our pain and suffering, our spiritual eyes grow dim and we can only see and feel the pain of our natural experiences with little or no hope. We start to ask, "Why God?" "Why is this happening to me?" "Where are you?"
This could be a dark and lonely place to be with very few counselors taking into account your spiritual experience let alone understanding it.
In Spiritual Care Counseling:
- We enter a trialogue (You, Me, and God).
- We explore your natural pain and suffering.
- We discern the voice of God in the midst of your pain and suffering.
- We challenge negative thinking that could have you feeling stuck.
- We help you to find acceptance and meaning from your pain and suffering.
- We identify and develop spiritual tools/coping skills to empower you and help you move forward.
